Subject: Help of these Plates!

Aloha family,

I hope you are all well! I miss you all and think about you often. So this week was another crazy service week. We had service every day this week and it was amazing. It ranged from weeding, sweeping, lifting, throwing, and some breaking lol. I got some pretty cool battle scars from a black berry bush we tried to attack... though I think it attacked us more haha. So our area finally got a car!! We share it with another companionship from the other ward but it is still ours. It is an electric blue 2020 equinox and definitely the nicest car I have driven in my life lol. It is kind of funny because a lot of missionaries drive the nicest cars they'll ever drive when they are on their mission lol. This week we had a couple of member meals and we 2 bbqs with families from both wards. It tasted so good and was definitely needed... or wanted. We taught one of our investigators this week, mike. Mike is amazing and loves to listen to our lessons and also ask some interesting ones as well. All in all he is awesome! My companion and I had a bible basher experience in a park. We were sitting down about to plan when a man came up to us and asked to share something that would blow our minds. Then once he started talking the wind picked up and it started to rain quite a bit. My companion and I looked at each other and knew that there was something going on. As the man started to talk about the bible he also contradicted himself many times. I got a couple of words in that caught him off guard but he immediately changed the subject. We talked for an hour... well more like, he talked for an hour and it was still raining until he left the conversation. Me and my companion knew immediately that that was not a good sign. So this weeks challenge is about journaling! We learn in mosiah 1:4 "For it were not possible that our father, Lehi, could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates; for he having been taught in the language of the Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings, and teach them to his children, that thereby they could teach them to their children, and so fulfilling the commandments of God, even down to this present time." This scripture says that if lehi and nephi had not written these things down then we would not have the first part of the book of mormon neither any of the rest. The book of mormon was journal entries from prophets. So my challenge is for each of you to get your journal, or go and buy one, and start writing. But dont just write anything, write at least 3 ways the lord has extended his hand to you in that day. If you must start slow, then you can start with every other day but slowly work your way up to a daily routine. I promise if you will do this then you will recognize the spirit more often, be more thankful for the blessings of god, and love more. If you dont believe, then try it;) In alma 34 we learn that we must plant the seed and experiment... so go for it and experiment! I love you all and hope you have an amazing week!!

Aloha,

Elder Nawahine
